The recent tragic loss of life in our local law enforcement community is a harsh reminder of the danger and tremendous personal sacrifice these men and women undertake daily, with courage, grace and humility.
We, the community, owe these brave men and women of law enforcement and their families, a debt of gratitude and honor. They willingly lay down their lives and the future happiness of their families, for the noble privilege of defending our democratic institutions and the freedom and peace afforded under our laws.
They protect and defend our community from the evil and chaos that exists in a broken world, that
The freedoms we enjoy come at a tremendous cost.
The selfless sacrifice and bravery Detective Bill Brewers and others demonstrated here and in other communities for the greater good, are the very embodiment of selfless sacrifice made to preserve the eternal ideals of righteousness, peace, law and order in our nation.
The suffering and loss we now face as a nation are the painful burdens our police and their families now must carry when right and wrong, order and chaos do battle. No ideal, no peace, no freedom can exist without men and women willing to defend these ideals with their life. Freedom and righteousness exist because of sacrifice.
Our Savior and Lord said this life would be full of trials and tribulations. But we can rejoice in knowing that our Lord redeemed all who have faith and trust in Him to eternal hope and glory. Why? Because Jesus Christ, God in flesh, made the ultimate sacrifice for us when He was crucified for our sin and brokenness on the Cross at Calvary. Christ defeated death by bringing us hope in God’s resurrected life. Detective Bill Brewers and others paid that ultimate sacrifice in this life. But the promise of eternal life rests in faith and trust in our Lord.
Jesus Christ, our risen Savior, is why we still have hope in the face of tragedy.
Our police and first responders are bulwarks against the brokenness, ills and problems of society. We stand with them as they grieve the loss of a fallen hero, and grieve with them. We honor them, respect them and pray for God’s protection and strength over them and their families now and in the days ahead.

Our Gift
The poem Heroes Unheard is dedicated to our law enforcement community and their families who quietly shoulder our burdens by preserving peace and liberty in our nation, at great personal peril. Selfless sacrifice and service to our nation and its freedoms are America’s heritage.
Heroes Unheard
By Robin Kiley

Ordinary, humble;
quiet, still,
unseen, unheard;
shadows on hills.
Pain, suffering;
toils unfurled,
quiet, not beaming;
heroes unheard.
Walking, not running;
journey, yet wait,
suffering patiently;
no trumpets, but faith.
Like our Savior,
bearing His cross on the hill,
obedience, duty,
no reward, God’s will.
Trusting in the beyond,
in hope, not the now.
Trusting in God,
His power, His love.
A life lived in simplicity,
humbled, pained;
sacrifice, the gift,
in purity, no shame.
quiet, still,
unseen, unheard;
shadows on hills.
Pain, suffering;
toils unfurled,
quiet, not beaming;
heroes unheard.
Walking, not running;
journey, yet wait,
suffering patiently;
no trumpets, but faith.
Like our Savior,
bearing His cross on the hill,
obedience, duty,
no reward, God’s will.
Trusting in the beyond,
in hope, not the now.
Trusting in God,
His power, His love.
A life lived in simplicity,
humbled, pained;
sacrifice, the gift,
in purity, no shame.
