A Celebration of Mothers

To be a mother is to be blessed. It is one of the most fulfilling and creative endeavors a woman can experience in having the opportunity to create, shape, nurture, love and serve a young mind of boundless potential. It is like an artist approaching her medium of expression, whether it be paints, marble, words or musical notes –  infinite potential rests at your hand.

A mother pours her very soul, hopes and dreams into her child with prayers, tears and laughter.  The jewels that reside in our child’s personality are our responsibility to identify, polish and enhance so that they shine brightly in the world and give it beauty and luster.  God has given us a privilege and an awesome responsibility to instruct by word and action, the values and character that we ourselves received from our parents and others and wisdom gleaned from life’s experiences.

It is in this bond of love and affection that a mother gives her child a sense of identity, value, the ability to love others, and the courage to give freely of oneself.  It is in this child that all the world awaits to see what may become of his or her days and destiny.  For each life holds potential and hope which knows no limit, no bounds.

So let us all express our love, gratitude and thanksgiving to the mothers we know and remember those who now live in our hearts, whether they are friends or our own mothers, and thank them for the gift of themselves – their time, love and service that they so graciously poured into young lives or our own.  For it is in love and service that our gifts and talents from God shine the brightest!

Happy Mother’s Day and God Bless!
