Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth...” Then God blessed them, and God said to them, "Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” — Genesis 1:26, 28.
God gave mankind dominion over the earth and all its fullness. With power comes responsibility – the duty to care and protect all the beauty and diversity the earth has to offer for ourselves and future generations.
Stand2Serve is partnering with our young people at Warren County Career Center (“WCCC”) to celebrate Earth Day by initiating a county-wide campaign that encourages each of us to make thoughtful, wise choices in how we live, what we choose to buy, and how we can reuse, recycle, repurpose items we no longer need in ways that help others and reduces or eliminates unnecessary waste.
Our hope is to engender a more gentle and thoughtful spirit toward the earth and all forms of life. We believe the best step forward is to examine how our own choices affect others and our environment. We can do that by being informed and sharing knowledge and best practices with others in positive, creative ways.
Join us as we watch our young people create ECO Art on reusable shopping bags that replace disposable plastic bags, develop helpful public service announcements, and share helpful Eco-hints each of us can incorporate into our daily lives. All of these efforts can lead to a better, more beautiful community that everyone enjoys.
Let’s get started and make a difference in our own backyard!
